Need Fabric or BI Support? Join the Minnesota Fabric Group!

Written by Team SCS | Nov 26, 2024 7:15:00 PM

As avid users of both Fabric and Power BI, we love hearing from other Fabric and Power BI users. Each person has unique insights, cool tricks and tips and things to share.

For that reason, we started a new user group: The Minnesota Fabric/Power BI Community, and we want to invite you to join!

This community group is a free space to swap tips and tricks, ask troubleshooting questions and connect with other Fabric and/or Power BI users.

If you’ve ever…

  • Wanted to get more out of your Microsoft data tools, but aren’t sure where to start
  • Run into a specific challenge and wanted insight on the best way to model data for it
  • Encountered an unusual error and can’t figure out how to resolve it
  • Wanted to connect with other users at your same level of expertise

…then this group is for you!

About the User Group:

This group is dedicated to sharing knowledge and supporting fellow users of Microsoft Analytics tools. The best resource is someone who has been there and done that. This community makes those contacts possible. We believe everyone has something to learn and everyone has something to offer from their own experience. This community spans industries and technical levels. Whether you are a content consumer, a visualization creator, or an analytics environment architect, all are welcome to inquire and to share.

About Us:

SCS is a Microsoft-centric technology firm providing innovative solutions that enable our clients to solve business problems. We are avid users of Fabric, Power BI, Azure and other Microsoft data products. We primarily create, manage and maintain databases. Our organization created the Minnesota Fabric/Power BI Community to share resources and forge connections, but it’s not a group exclusively for our employees and customers. Our goal is to connect with other Fabric and Power BI users in Minnesota to cultivate a space for open discussion, resource-sharing and experience building.

FAQs:

Who can join the user group?

Anyone who is a current Fabric and/or Power BI user can join. We highly encourage users in Minnesota to join, as we can connect locally for in-person events and share unique insights for midwestern businesses. However, the group is open for anyone who wants to join and we won’t turn away non-Minnesota users. The goal is just to create a space for collaborative brainstorming and information sharing, with a specific focus on Minnesota.

Do I need to be a current Fabric or Power BI user to join?

Yes. You will need to use a Microsoft account that’s connected to a Fabric or Power BI workspace in order to join the group.

Is this a sales group/can I promote my services?

No. We do not allow promotions of any kind. This goes for our organization too - we do not promote our services nor do you need to be a client of ours to join. This space is purely for freely sharing information and experiences to create a community resource for optimizing your experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

Do I have to pay to join?

No. This group is 100% free, 100% of the time. This includes any live or in-person events as well.

Is the user group made by Microsoft?

The user group is not made by Microsoft. However, the group is housed in Microsoft’s community user group platform. Fabric User groups are a way for like-minded peers and product experts to connect and share ideas. So while our user group is housed in Microsoft’s user group platform, it is not run by Microsoft. It’s a grassroots group of Fabric users, based in Minnesota.

What can I do as a group member?

After joining, you can connect in a few different ways. The primary way most of our users connect is through the discussion tab. This is a forum-style chatting space where users can post anything they want - questions they have, new things they’ve learned, etc. - and other users can directly reply.

We also host virtual events throughout the year that members can join. These are typically webinar-style live events around specific topics. We are also looking to add in-person events in the future.

How can I join the group?

You can find more information and join the group on the Microsoft User Group website.
